Reflective Journal

Reflective Journal (Term 1)

Week 3: 28/01/2021-29/01/2021

On the third week of online enrollment, I had my first On Campus class. On the first day, I was both excited and nervous because I was exposed to a number of websites that I would use throughout the year. My first online class was English with Wai Kang Yau, a wonderful tutor. It was my first time as an online student, but the tutor made everything go smoothly. During that week, I learned how to convey agreement and disagreement, as well as how to connect sentences with connectives and generally improve our writing.

Week 4:  01/02/2021-05/02/2021

The second week was a lot easier for me, because I knew how to use Microsoft Teams and Moodle activities. We talked about least developed, developing, and developed countries, industrialization, economic progress, and the World Trade Organization in business class (WTO). We completed a challenge activity concerning environmental variables that affect Harley-Davidson and the tactics they are employing to address this issue. In addition, this week in English, we learned about instructions, how to interpret and apply them to know what to do. How to write instructive sentences using narrative words, and how to give instructions to others using sequencing language such as: firstly, secondly, thirdly, next, lastly, finally and ultimately.

Finally, we learned about reflective learning, how to use it, and the relevance of reflective practice in learning and professional growth in Post Graduate Skills. Our Moodle discussion topic was what we've learned about ourselves so far in this module, as well as the problems we've encountered.

Week 5:  08/02/2021-12/02/2021

Week 5 got off to a good start in English class, where we learned the value of taking notes in a variety of ways and how to spot significant terms in an exam title. Everyone shared their preferred method of taking notes, and mine is writing in a notebook with diagrams and keywords highlighted. As well as how to differentiate between the many types of essays (problem-solution, opinion, discussion, and reason-solution), how to approach essay titles, and which sources are best for answering essay topics. This week's challenge is to figure out what the title of an essay is.

Furthermore, Business covered internalization and multinational businesses (MNe), as well as other concepts such as export, pull factors, push factors, and how to recognize distinct political, economic, legal, and financial.

Week 6: 15/02/2021-19/02/2021

This week began with English, where we learned the differences between skimming and scanning. When should we employ skimming, scanning, and describing a location near where we used to dwell in our home country.

Additionally, we began the adventure of summarizing and paraphrasing in Post Graduate Skills, learning the differences and when to use each, as well as what plagiarism is and how to avoid it. This week's task is to summarize the reflective essay on the university journal up to this point.

Moreover, our business teacher offered us an assignment in which we had to produce a project about a multinational corporation that had to be completed by the end of Term 1. We also learned how to write and design an academic poster.

Week 7:  22/02/2021-26/02/2021

This week in English, we worked on summarizing skills, paragraph construction, and writing a brief essay plan. My essay plan for this week's assignment is complete.

In addition, in Post Graduate Skills, I learned about citations and references, particularly in Harvard style, as well as what plagiarism is. I was unfamiliar with these procedures because they had never been employed in my country.

Week 8: 01/03/2021-05/03/2021

This week in Firm, the instructor demonstrated how to utilize SWOT and PASTLE to analyze a business and make decisions depending on the results. Our task was to write about a corporation's SWOT and PESTLE assessments, as well as how this organization employed these analyses to deal with a pandemic. Covid-19. We learned how to prepare for English exams in English lessons as well, honing our skills for a better performance. To achieve good results, students need improve their listening, reading, and speaking skills, as well as write an essay under time constraints of around one hour. We improved our writing skills and learn how to produce a well-structured essay in Post Graduate Skills seminars.

Week 9: 08/03/2021-12/03/2021

It was the last week of the semester. I'm really pleased with how far I've come this semester. I completed all of my assignments: the reflective essay in Post Graduate Skills, an OCTOE exam in English (just to see where students are at this point in English), a presentation of my Multinational company project in Business (which was a success and the tutor congratulated me), and finally the presentation of my Multinational company project in Business.

Reflective Journal Term 2

Week 1: 22/03/2021-26/03/2021

This is the first week of term 2, and I'm still taking online classes; yet, I still prefer face-to-face classes. This term, I'll be taking Marketing and Advertising, as well as a research project. Marketing and Advertising was a fascinating subject, and the teacher presented the objectives for term 2, which included a marketing plan for a firm we wanted to start and a marketing essay. On the other hand, Research Project was a challenging subject that required us to create a taxonomy, conduct a literature review, and conduct research on a topic that we choose. Furthermore, in Post Graduate Skills, the teacher informed us that we must establish an internet portal; I have never used or had one before, so I believe it will be quite tough for me. Finally, we learned how to send formal emails in English.

Week 2: 29/03/2021-02/04/2021

I learned about VLE (virtual learning environment) and LMS (learning management systems) this week in Post Graduate Skills. Which are instructional internet platforms such as "Moodle" or "Teams"? It can be difficult to use these platforms because they demand communication and IT abilities, as well as peer evaluation and reconsideration. In Research Project I discussed the topic I choose with the tutor.

Week 3: 05/04/2021-09/04/2021

We learned the three different sorts of sentences this week in English: simple, compound, and complicated. Simple sentences contained a subject, verb, and object; nonetheless, conjunctions were used to connect two simple phrases. Subordinating conjunctions are used to link sentences, both simple and complicated. During the Research Project, the teacher taught taxonomy, what it is, how to write it, and provided examples. I was hesitant about taxonomy at first, and it appeared to be a difficult task because I had never done one before. The theme of Post Graduate Skills was how to be creative in your learning, and we had a fun assignment to demonstrate the power of observation by looking at a picture and counting how many individuals we could notice.

In addition, we learned about the marketing mix, which includes the 4Ps and 7Ps, which are vital when drafting and considering marketing strategies.

Week 4: 12/04/2021-16/04/2021

This week in PSD, I learned about critical thinking, which was really interesting and is an important skill not only for studying but also for everyday life. It is directly linked to critical writing and reading since it enables us to assess and think critically about all of the information we have.

In the research study for our taxonomy plan, critical thinking was also required. The tutor wants to see the first draught of what we've done so far this week, and I'm concerned because I still have a lot of information to add and a few books to find. This week's topic in Marketing and Advertising was segmentation and targeting, or how people can be divided into different segments and targeted to buy items and services. We spent our final week in English honing our speaking and presentation skills so that we could feel more confident while speaking in English in front of a group or during a speaking exam.

Week 5: 19/04/2021-23/04/2021

This is the week of the English OCTOE mid-term exam, and I'm a little nervous and confused because we have a lot of tasks to finish, and it's going to be a very busy week. During class, we completed some preparations and the teacher taught how to think in an exam and some writing strategies. Positioning, or how to position a business in the market to influence client behavior when making purchase decisions, was the focus of marketing and advertising. In addition, we must develop marketing mix, segmentation, targeting, and positioning draughts that are relevant to our business.

Week 6: 26/04/2021-30/04/2021

This week in English, we worked on improving our reading skills by learning new terms and attempting to comprehend the sense of a piece, even if some words were unfamiliar. However, in Marketing and Advertising, we explored how internet marketing has evolved over the last ten years, concentrating on various online marketing approaches as well as the benefits and drawbacks of online marketing. We had to make a presentation about a subject in PSD, and the teacher divided us into groups so that we could work together. We chose as a group to discuss social media; we will make a power point presentation and present it next week.

Finally, we began chapter 2 and 3 of the Research Project, where the tutor demonstrated how to complete each chapter with examples. Day by day, I am becoming more aware of how critical and tough writing critical and literature reviews is.

Week 7: 03/05/2021-07/05/2021

The week begins with the Research project, during which the tutor provided us with the opportunity to ask questions and inquire about taxonomy, chapters 1 and 2. I asked him several questions about my work, and he was as usual quite helpful, providing feedback and assistance. This week's criticism on the marketing plan and marketing essay was focused on marketing and advertising. Although my tutor advised me to add a number of items, I have progressed with my work. The marketing strategy demands a lot of work and contraction because it connects all of the knowledge from this term to my business. The week of our social media power point presentation in PSD was a success. As a member of Group 1, I began by presenting my contribution, followed by the other members of the group. I was a little nervous about giving the presentation, but it went well despite some group blunders. Along with peers, the tutor provided input.

Week 8: 10/05/2021-14/05/2021

This is the final week of this term, I feel stressed since all the assignments need to be finished and waiting for the results is depressing. Tutors, on the other hand, are really nice and helpful; they have provided us with the necessary assistance and guidance in order for us to finish on time and submit a quality assignment.

This week is all about putting the finishing touches on our assignments and receiving final comments from our tutors, beginning with the Research Project, when the tutor provided us time to work on our tasks while also asking questions.
