Reflective essay
Essay on comparing my
Home education and UK online education
“Education is the
most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world” (Nelson Mandela). My home country is Bangladesh,
there are various kind of education systems are available, like_ General
education, Medical Education, Madrasah Education (Islamic) Vocational,
Engineering and Technical. In this essay will be compare my home country
education and British education.
Education System in
Bangladesh: The education system in Bangladesh is separated into three levels.
1. Primary level (Class 1-8)
2. Secondary level (Class 9-12)
3. Tertiary or
University level ( Higher Education)
Primary education begins in class one and
continues until class eight. There are two central exams, one in class five,
called the Primary School Certificate (PSC), and another in class eight, called
the Junior School Certificate (JSC). Next final test is the Secondary School
Certificate (SSC) which is held in classes 9 to 10, and Higher Secondary
Certificate (HSC) in classes 11 to 12.
After successfully completing the primary and
secondary education, the students will be eligible for the University level. I
completed my bachelor degree from my home country and I can share my experience
about my country’s education system as well. In Bangladesh the teachers are
very friendly at the University level but in the primary and secondary level,
the teachers are not much friendly and not fair enough. As a result, most of
the students are losing interest to join in the classes and they are encouraged
to leave the school. In another way, I realized that, at university some of the
teachers are very rude behave and they are aged enough, but who are the young
and recently joined to the teaching profession, they are very friendly,
dedicated to the students and very concerned about the students thoughts.
Furthermore, in Bangladesh, the education
system is mainly focused on the theoretical, they depend less on the practical
education. That is one of the biggest distance from the British education. The
students participating in the exams and writing their answers to the answer
sheet. This is the main and major system is to progress primary and secondary
education, somewhere the same system is also available at the University level.
UK online education: Primary
education, secondary education, further education, and higher education are the
four basic components of the British educational system. In the United Kingdom,
children are required to attend primary and secondary school from the age of
five until they reach the age of sixteen.
If I compare with UK education and Bangladesh education
system, there is no doubt UK education will be the best, because the UK
education system is not only based on theoretical there is also practical, and
university courses are shorter than Bangladeshi’s University degree. Where in
Bangladesh the university Bachelor degree is four years but in the UK
Universities provide three years and there is no session clatter. Due to
covid-19 the whole world is facing challenges everywhere. It is affected mostly
in education sector. But the online education is only temporary to continue the
study. Online education is just keeping the study continued and trying to
manage the education system as an emergency. In my opinion it’s a big challenge to continue for a long time to
cover as like as face to face education. For the present situation UK online
education is excellent, but face to face is more worthy. There is no doubt
UK online education best online platform for this pandemic situation. But I
hope that, the world is being good soon from this pandemic and we will be able
to attend our face to face study.
Finally it is clear that, UK education system is much better than my home country
education, and the online education is also excellent for as an emergency.
